No, it’s not about the weather nor the rating of your partner. Valentine’s day from a marketing point of view is also hot, right? Turning more and more into a commercial event, valentine’s day is hot stuff. In the days before valentine’s day you better have your mind set on a original gift for your beloved one(s). I got my love this original gift: Chocolate Mii’s! Representing my girlfriend and me in Nintendo’s Wii, Mii form. Cute huh? (although I got the chocolate color wrong ;-))
Anyway, now i’ve got you all excited for valentine’s day let’s do a little research how popular valentine’s day is, in comparison to e.g. easter, thanksgiving, Christmas or the superbowl. Ok, I skipped the latter because it felt in the same “interest” time frame. How hot are these (commercial) days in comparison to each other? Have a look:
Seems that valentine’s day is not that hot as easter nor Christmas on the internet. Over rated ;-)
Google Trends bases the graphs on the “search volume” on the specific keyword or phrase they collect (obviously). With Google Trends you can setup different keywords in comparison to each other. In research for new products or keywords this tool can be very useful for you to see how “popular” the keyword or phrase is, on a time line. For web shops with seasonal products (e.g. bbq, christmas or hot tubs) this can help you determine when it’s the best time to focus on advertising, send newsletters or start with other promotions.
Google’s Insights for Search aims to provide insights into broad search patterns. Several approximations are used to compute these results. While Google Trends bases graphs on “search volume”, Google Insights shows data from more sources. It’s proven to be more accurate in cases of leyword analysis for SEO since the organic search trends is used as an source. This makes it more suitable for non SEA activities. A clear trend can still be determined when researching keywords and their timing.
When we request the insights for our holiday keywords, you’ll see almost the same trend as in the previous graph. No big changes there. Our keywords are overall peak trending in the seasons.
With the help of these Google tools you can reach people at the right time. If you offer your product in at the time Google Trends or Insights is showing the highest interest, you probably reach more customers. The customers are already looking for that particular product and if you offer it, a deal cannot be too far away.
